The Centre is currently closed to the public, but we hope to open again on May 17th. We aim to run our private Fossil Hunting Walks from March 29th for up to 5 people and hope that we can offer public events again when restrictions are eased.

The opening of the Centre and events are dependent on the governments roadmap and are subject to change. Thank you for your understanding and hope your are able to visit us later in 2021.

New safety measures will be in place across the Centre to keep our volunteers, staff and visitors as safe as possible. We have completed all our coronavirus checks and preparations and have signed up to the Visit England ‘We’re Good to Go’.

Entry to the Centre is FREE and no booking required. We are reducing our visitor numbers, so a queuing system will be in place from the front entrance of the building. We are following the government guidelines with track and trace details too. Sanitising stations are in place at the entrances and inside the Centre.

Please check our  our Events Calendar for more information and to book your places on our private Fossil Hunting Walks.

Attenborough’s Sea Dragon Attenborough’s Sea Dragon

The incredible ichthyosaur that starred in the BBC documentary ‘Attenborough and the Sea Dragon’ is now on display at the Charmouth Heritage Coast Centre for all to see and learn about this unique fossil.

The ichthyosaur was discovered by local collector Chris Moore who has loaned the Sea Dragon to the Centre for a year. The Centre has free entry and is on the beach at Charmouth, one of the best and safest areas to collect fossils on the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site.
