2026 marks 25 years of the Jurassic Coast being designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. This designation is attributed to the remarkable geomorphology and palaeontology of our coastline, as well as the importance of the history of fossil collecting. It all started over 200 years ago with fossil hunters like Mary Anning and continues to this day with the incredible work of fossil collectors.
This year we’re celebrating the continuing work of today’s fossil hunters and preparators with our “Fossil of the Month” display. Each month we’ll be showcasing a new fossil in our recent finds cabinet, be sure to check in each month to see them while they’re here!
