We saw a lot of it on our fossil hunting walk this We saw a lot of it on our fossil hunting walk this weekend, but sadly the rough weather and the big swells have dumped lots of marine rubbish on the beaches.
We've been doing what we can but we need more hands! Join us this Sunday, 15th of February, at 10am for our beach cleaning championships to clear away as much of it as we can! #marinemonday
Don't forget it's the last of our Winter lectures Don't forget it's the last of our Winter lectures is coming up! Join us and the Friends of the CHCC in Charmouth Village Hall, 7pm, Tuesday 10th, for a talk by Professor James Scourse. Free entry but donations are always welcome!
Some rough seas and high tides this morning out on Some rough seas and high tides this morning out on the seafront, hopefully revealing some fossils on the beach too! Remember if you are coming down to head out to let the tide drop first, don't get too close to those cliffs! Of course our Centre's open if you need some shelter until then.
February's fossil of the month is now on display. February's fossil of the month is now on display. Found by one of our wardens during a lunchbreak walk, this slab of limestone was hiding a mass of 200-million-year old crinoid heads and tendrils all entwined and laying over each other!

These alien looking animals, despite their plant-like looks, are actually close relatives of starfish, sea urchins and even sea cucumbers!

Find out more on this odd find here and be sure to check it out before the end of the month: https://charmouth.org/chcc/fotmfebruary/
